How ALTO AI API Works

ALTO AI API is designed to turn your vehicle inspections into valuable data that can be used to enhance your products and services, to analyze images of vehicles and identify damages such as dents, scratches or missing parts. It uses advanced machine learning algorithms to process the images and extract relevant data, which is then returned to the developer in the form of a report.

Developers can use the API to submit individual images or a list of images for analysis. The API supports a variety of image formats, including JPEG and PNG. After processing the images, the API returns to a webhook a detailed report on the condition of the vehicle, including a list of identified damages and repair costs, as well as severity ratings for each damage.

In addition to the report data, the API also provides JSON for retrieving individual photos with damages highlighted, allowing developers to easily visualize the identified damages and repair needs. By integrating the ALTO AI API into their products and services, developers can leverage the power of ALTO AI's advanced machine learning algorithms to turn raw inspection data into valuable insights.

ALTO AI Output

In addition to the list of damages and severity ratings described in the previous section, the ALTO AI API also provides the following data in its report (depending on your subscription):

  • Repair costs for each damaged part,

  • Car Picture Quality Control results for each image, including information on factors such as brightness, blurriness, and whether the photo is of a car or truck,

  • License plate number

This data can be used to help developers make informed decisions about pricing, maintenance, and other business-critical tasks. The API also includes endpoints for retrieving individual photos with damages highlighted, allowing developers to easily visualize the identified damages and repair needs.

Image Quality Requirements

To ensure the best possible results from the ALTO AI API, it is important to use high-quality images with as much detail as possible. Higher resolutions will allow the API to more accurately detect damages, especially small scratches and dents. Avoid using images with excessive compression, as this can smooth out small details and make it more difficult for the API to detect damages.

Our algorithms are designed to be flexible and adapt to a wide range of image qualities, including making use of tiling effects to find the optimal balance between recall and false positives. However, using high-quality images will generally result in better performance and more accurate results.

You can submit a maximum of 30 images at a time.
